About This Indicator
Perpetual futures funding rate and open interest measure leverage in the derivatives market. Positive funding means longs pay shorts (bullish/leveraged demand); negative funding means shorts pay longs (bearish/leveraged demand). Extremes in either direction, especially combined with rising open interest, have historically marked overheated conditions prone to sharp reversals.
