About This Indicator

Estimates where leveraged BTC perpetual futures positions are likely to be liquidated. No free data source publishes real per-position liquidation prices — exchanges don't disclose them, and Coinglass-style heatmap APIs gate this behind a paid tier — so this is a disclosed model, not real liquidation data. It splits each day's total open interest across five assumed leverage tiers (5x-100x), treats the trailing 30 days of closing prices (recency-weighted) as a proxy for where open positions were entered, and plots the resulting estimated liquidation prices as a density heatmap. Only the 1-month, 3-month and 6-month ranges are offered, since liquidation clusters are inherently a near-term, near-price read — longer ranges wouldn't have meaningful heatmap coverage.

Data Sources

  • Bitcoin price: same daily price history used across the app
  • Open interest: Bybit public API (BTCUSDT linear perpetual), converted to USD using each day's BTC price
  • Model: open interest split across 5x/10x/20x/50x/100x leverage tiers (weighted 30/25/20/15/10%), entry prices proxied by a 7-day half-life recency-weighted average of the trailing 30 daily closes, liquidation price = entry x (1 -/+ 1/leverage)
